Mudi Pedigree Analysis Certificate
(Previously generated MPAC reports are on the MPAC Report List page.)
An MPAC can be generated for any Mudi or planned Mudi litter, and requested by any Mudi owner, puppy seeker, or breeder, anywhere in the world.
Without knowledge of a Mudi’s family health history, you cannot make educated breeding or purchasing decisions. If you have less than the full collection of available data for health issues for your planned litter, you will produce health issues more often than if you know a health issue is high risk and take the necessary steps to avoid it.
MPAC is one more tool you can use to improve the health of your Mudi litters and puppy acquisitions.
MPAC Purpose and Goals for Breeding of the Mudi
Mudi Pedigree Analysis (MPAC) is a tool for those planning to breed their Mudi. The scores provide a consistent method by which you can compare pedigrees and determine whether a particular male and female Mudi are well matched for the traits listed.
Every dog has some degree of possible health issues in the genes they carry, therefore seeking dogs with zero scores is unrealistic. The risk scores given in the MPAC can be used to reduce the chances of producing unwanted traits. A score of 50 or higher is reason for concern. Try to avoid pairings that score in excess of 50 for any serious health issue. The MPAC will help you to do so sensibly, as all traits are not equal and you need to also consider health test results of the planned pair, their breed characteristics, temperament/behavior and instinct traits, in addition to those traits covered by MPAC.
If your planned litter scores 50 or higher for any trait, try to reduce the scores for puppies to below 50 whenever possible. If multiple traits are over 50, it may not be possible to reduce risk across the board, the breeder will have to prioritize lowering the risk for those traits with the highest impact on health as the primary goal.
While MPAC results are intended to inform the breeder about potential risks in the planned litters pedigree, it must be kept in mind that even a very high risk score does not mean a litter will produce that disease or fault. However, the higher the risk score, the more likely this could happen, so caution is advised.
Ideally the breeder should choose a mate that lowers the risk score, especially if the health issue is potentially incurable or has serious quality of life issues.
For serious health traits that typically don’t appear until the dog is 4-5 years old, if the score is 50 or greater, it is recommended to hold off breeding that dog until it is past the typical age of onset for the trait. Delaying breeding will reduce the chance that the dog may become affected after it has already produced offspring.
When looking for a mate to use with your Mudi or reviewing an MPAC on a female wanting to use your male, prioritize crosses that reduce risk in the offspring wherever possible. Mate selection is a balancing act, look at the plusses and minuses on each side, not only with MPAC scores, but with health test results, breed characteristic traits, behavior and instinct tests, also being considered. Do the potential mates complement each other when all the results are on the table?
MPAC should not be used to eliminate Mudis from breeding, it is meant to be used to find mates that will give lower risk for occurrence of serious health issues and traits in the produced offspring.
Ultimately it is up to each breeder to decide which Mudis to breed and each puppy seeker to decide which puppy to take home. The Mudi Directions Group does not make breeder, litter or puppy recommendations to anyone, we just supply the data to enable an educated choice.
While it is important to remember that breeders are breeding dogs, not documents, numbers or data, knowing all of the available information will significantly support informed, responsible breeding decisions.
MPAC Requesting
To request MPAC for your planned litter, existing litter, owned Mudi or a Mudi you plan to purchase, please email Mudi Directions with the name of the planned litters parents, or the name of the Mudi you would like an MPAC made for to: MudiDirections@gmail.com
Details of the MPAC request will be discussed through email only.

Sharing of MPAC documents is on a limited basis and is to be agreed upon prior to MPAC being made and placed to Google Docs. Sharing of MPAC documents you requested, with others, should be very carefully considered.
As new trait and health issue information is continuously collected, it is advisable that MPAC be requested before breeding any litter or obtaining a new Mudi.
If you requested an MPAC for a planned litter more than 6 months before the breeding is expected to occur, we will check the MPAC risk scores for validity one month prior to the actual mating for free.
MPAC reports will be completed within one weeks’ time in most cases, once payment is received.
